Evrything with an end

By blueskyz
My summer holidays is coming to an end soon. This week is my last week of almost 3 months of holiday. And while i am pondering how my new semester would be, i too looked back at what i did for my entire summer holiday.

Compared to my last summer holiday, this time round, it's not having repitition of actions and chores for the entire holiday. During my last summer hols, how i remembered i spent an entire month finishing all games that i can grab my hands on, then how i am tormented mentally for having almost nothing to do for the next 2 months.

This time though, my first 2 months were spent daily for my industrial training. To recap everything, though dull, sometimes boring and commonly sluggish daily routine, the training did let me taste the experience of working in real life. Though training, there is a sense of responsibility for whatever actions you have taken since it involves the patients and money. Overall, its an excellent experience, in term of both my academics and preparing me for what lies ahead of me.

As for the last month, i practically spent it almost everyday at home. What else can i do? All, if not almost all, my friends were either still in uni or could not comeback even for CNY. Lonely days just passed by. There's even no CNY gatherings like i usually had back in the old times.

On the bright side though, i'd finished FF12 finally. After 120++ hours, with almost all quests done and almost all items obtained, i finally finished this accursed game in which it kept me waiting ever since starting it last summer holiday. An achievement for me since i've finished every FF series there is out there, excluding those from Nintendo handheld consoles.

For my CNY celebrations, it seems to be more like CNY cele"dull"rations. Only scored 1 open house, and thats all. Nothing else. No gambling, no greetings, but at least there are still ang pows still in store for me.

And from here, it brings me to ponder about angpow designs. Some angpows are designed creatively and inspirationally,

Cute, the paper stuff inside is even "cuter"

Some just cin cai cin cai design and mass produced it

I could have mistaken this for any plain ol' paper for decorations only

And some have the old traditional taste in it.

An ol' touch and reminds me of similar designs back in the old days

As for how much i got this year, i haven't actually opened them at all =P Maybe next year, i guess.

Another thing was that i've never seen any lion dance performance at all during this entire CNY, until the one and only open house, hosted by one of my father's friends.
Not a bad performance actually, with a few breath-taking moments and some humorous actions

The truth is, i am never fond of extra loud noises, especially firecrackers. Not that i can't stand them, its just, i just don't like them for those ear-banging cracking sounds.
Long? Oh no, not yet.

Longer? Ohh, this is just barely half the length. The other half was somewhere around the spectators.

At night, 2 interesting stuff happened right at my doorstep.

Cat-fight. An outsider cat suddenly pop out of nowhere and seems to challenge my neighbour's cat. Unfortunately, they split the moment i came out and flash my camera.

As for this dog, not sure whose. Just came in, snuggled at that spot and slept. Again, unfortunately, not wanting the floor to go dirty, my father scram it away. If he was a puppy, i might consider taking him in.

With all the animals around, i just wonder where are all the rats.

As for the infamous Valentine's Day, i "spent" some quality time with my beloved PC, only for my love to be betrayed. At one point, it suddenly freezed over, and when reset-ed, my entire torrent downloads dissappeared <_<"

The truth is.............

The truth is, my life is and was.......literally, quite unlucky for some time now.

Let me rant off my unlucky times nowadays

My new Samsung YP-9A mp4 player that i just bought earlier this year is rendered useless since i've lost it's line-in cable. Searched the entire city(KK) for it and none of them would sell that cable seperately

A cool still-new mp4 player, but now condemned to the cold and dark confinements of my bedroom. Where the heck do the sell the cables seperately?

My older mp3 player................mysteriously had some cracks on it's screen >_>

Up to now, how the heck this cracks appear is still unknown

My laptop seems to have the "over-heat" symptom again, in which when it occured the last time, the entire processor had to be replaced.

My room had been a storeroom when i am away. Even when i am back, i can barely even walk to my table.

My poor old PC also have overheating problem, probably courtesy of my sister (in which she never admit it)

My exam results were bloody terrible. Some marks given were pretty biased.

My TV only could show black and white for the entire 2 months when i played my PS. Only recently it's back to 'almost' normal.

My work had been quite boring. The work itself is not boring, but just the volume is damn low.

My external HD had been busted already.......................300++ GB worth of anime, movies and mp3s all gone with the smoke.

All my hardwork collecting stuffs in this metal death heap had been washed away. Seagate? The best HD? Got to re-think my future invesments.

My sports day experience is terrible this year. Boss won't allow me to take early leave, only could sneak out.

My CNY had been quite dull. Open houses? Till now, nill.

Almost all my friends are not around here yet. Want to go out yum char also cannot (T_T). Worse, the usual dalang are not around too.

I have to re-find old books and notes for my upcoming semester again after my dealer lost her stuffs in the airport.

Went to have a denture checkup last week and the dentist found abnormalities with my teeth. Apart from my glistening, white, strong and sturdy sexy teeth, it seems that my wisdom tooth is causing some havoc with my dentures. One won't come out and another is still halfway out. By my age, all should be visible. Dentist advice is to have an operation in order to prevent more deformities caused by the growing wisdom teeth since instead of growing vertically, it seems to be in a horizontal position.

There are more unlucky rants that i want to rant about, but ranting alone had exhausted my rant-a-tion and take a rest.

If you are not those kind of person who thinks negatively like me, maybe you should just leave this post alone.

In other case, some boring photos are being updated, mostly from my lab training period.

Happy Chinese New Year

By blueskyz
Surely the Year of the Rat gone off with a big bang. But for me, somehow, the "bang" was just simply missing. Open houses? None. Glorious dinner? None. Gambling?? Haven't for the mean time. Till now, the only places i'd been going for greetings were my grandparent's places.

When i was still a small kid, i would be very eager to celebrate CNY. I would even try to stay up till midnight to listen to the fireworks blasting away. Sadly, since there is a law around, no more such merry experience. Only occasional bangs could be heard. Whats funny though is that i'd been over-hearing conversations that there was a notice passed around stating that a fine of RM50K would be slapped on anyone's notty butt if they were caught "playing" with fireworks. The funny part is that.......................those fireworks were said to be sold by people from Customs itself (?!?!??!?!) This is not my accusations, but just something that i heard of.

On the other hand, there is a taboo that i made up myself, stating "Never go out for Dim Sum anywhere one the first and second day of CNY, and if do so, never late" after some unpleasent experiences from past years. Yet, even though warned by me, my parents never seems to listen. Today we just went out for Dim Sum. I wanted it to be early in the morning, but my mum nagged about it to be late in the morning. Luckily though, she did not opt for Shangri-La anymore like she used to. Four Seasons was the place. Full house, extra tables placed outside, but seated quickly. Yet, the service was terrible. We ordered for steamed stuffs and the waiter kept of ensuring us the it would be brought to our table, until we took a peek at the counter and saw people rushing for those newly steamed stuffs immediately.

But nonetheless, nothing unwanted happened at all during CNY, so might as well happily greet you all out there Gong Xi Fa Cai.

A new breath

By blueskyz
Finally, my industrial training ended on Thursday. Seems that some staffs there did not even knew about it, but well, just like how i entered, i would also disappear like the wind =P

As said in the past blog, a trainee cried on her last day of the training. So did i? Of course no. I am a man, i won't cry ( well, at least not under this situation ). But it would be a lie if i said i care nothing from there. Been there for 2 months and it feels kind of sad to just leave after getting to know everyone over there. Gonna missed those people.

And when the time came, i went into the boss's office to bid my goodbye and ask for my evaluation report. Unluckily, that fella never knew that that day was my last day and never prepared anything =_=". Well, had to come back tomorrow.

And thats tomorrow. Went back to the lab with JEANS and T-SHIRT on for the first time (this lab is strict. Other labs where my other friends worked at could wear casually. How unfair). This time, i bid farewell to everyone, thanking them for all their help and their patience towards my clumsiness.

Finally, i am free to enjoy my holiday for real =) First thing of the day, to Karamunsing. My PC was already jam-packed with stuffs that i downloaded, but never really bothered to look at when i was still working. And since my external HD had been busted, awaiting guarentee response back in KL, and my other one is also full, a new HD must be around.

Bought a Hitachi 320GB sata HD at about RM240, in which i had to bargain hardcore-ly since that salesguy was so damn "honey" mouthed. Don't wish to buy 500GB or 700GB or even the insanely 1TB HD yet as i await the lovely PC Fair in KL next month or so >=)

As for other stuffs, my ol' sec school, STTSS, sports day begun on the 31st, right on my last day of training. Could not visit there early for the bazaar since my boss won't allow me even for a half-day holiday >_>". But what is him to stop me /gg Sneaked out around 11am, but by the time i reached there, the atmosphere started to soothe away. Met other ex-prefects there too, but mostly my 1-year-younger-juniors. Only SimSim was there from my batch. Others? I have no idea.

Ever since main-gathering-organizers like Ah Wah, Ah Lo or Alan are no longer in KK, it's hard to have a gathering to comeby nowadays. I myself am not sure how much ex-prefects are back in KK right now, except for SimSim. But hopefully we could have a big gathering during CNY.

And no, i did not attend the official sports day opening ceremony today that is going to end soon later. Reasons? There are no friends around to go with, and even if there are, i don't know who is around.......................gotta start making prank msgs to them to find out.

All is lost

Ever since the day one of my external harddisk started to act weird, i knew there was a problem with it. Ever since when i first smell a faint scene of burnt, i knew a fish is always fishy.

But i care nothing, i did not take any action, cause i care less to it compared to my exams. Soon after my exam, i instantly forgot about my poor old hdd. Brought it back to Sabah and then, forget about it again.

Today, i bought some cables that would stuck it internally to my PC. But to my surprise, instead of a notice that a USB stuff had been plugged in, i was given a rude warning, where my hdd started "smoking" with a terrible burning odour.

At that very moment, i knew that my hdd is already back to where it belongs, a heap of junkyard heaven. But it was not about that scrap of metal i am worried about. I got a warranty and it ain't a year yet, so i can have a refund. But.......................hundreds of anime, tonnes of movies and countless mp3 songs are still inside that infernal junk T_T

I actually have 2 choices now, either to retrieve the data, or not. And according to my reliable resources and advice from tech savvy friends, i had to give up on the idea of retrieving my data. Seems that retrieving the data would be much more, very much more expensive compared to buying a new one.

" But, but.............*sobz. but there are lots and lots of my precious stuffs inside that thing T_T" i said to myself. Well, guess that i am very unlucky.

Just awful

What happen when you are inside a room, with lots of unknown stuffs in front of you and you decided to try your luck meddling them? The answer is, NO GOOD =(

The micro lab MLT was on-call duty today. So, first thing in the morning, i opened the incubation chamber and pluck out incubated samples from yesterday. Since there were so many of them, i decided to give it a try to analyse and deduce them myself.

BAD IDEA. End up messing some stuffs up, making some mis-judgement as well as failing to proceed to continue with further testings on the samples. Lucky for me, the micro lab MLT is a very nice person. End up cleaning up all my mess.

So, this serves as a lesson that we all should take note, NEVER EVER try to mess things up with your half-assed "skillz" and knowledge.

But you know what? She is going to have another on-call duty tomorrow, and another duty again on Thursday. Messing up the lab again? I guess so XP

The reeling motion

"Damn it" to a particular huge lorry driver. It seems that on a good day on Saturday, a bugger driving a big lorry was happily speeding around Fung Yee Ting pass. Why he wanted to use that road when it was quite narrow, i don't know. All i know is that that bugger sped along the road. Thinking that his lorry is invincible, he continue to speed off EVEN when the phone line was tugged by his lorry. What follows is the phone line fell, the pole supporting the line mangled, and happy residence around that place have no connection to both phones and internet.

And one of those resident happened to be me. It took those TM contractors time from yesterday's afternoon all the way till this afternoon to return the communication services back to normal. Another "kudos" to those contractors to take 24 "short" hours to fix the problem. At the end, a happy lorry "bugger" driver who sped off from the scene of crime, a bunch of happy contractors and technicians who took their sweet time, and another happy me who managed to stay away from internet for an entire 24 hours.

Then today afternoon, while watching the exciting Malaysia Open badmintion super series 2008, the screen suddenly went pitch black. Wondering what happen, i band and slap the TV, but not TV problem (My TV is quite sick nowadays). Changed to other channels, same problem.................Astro problem. Just great. I was eagerly following the final match between Chong Wei and Hyun Il. When the reception is back, just great. The match is over. Till now, the bloody results is not even posted on it's official website as yet.

As for my training, i am happy to say that i am finishing it in a week + 4 days. 1 more week in Micro lab and another 4 days in OPD. Unlike in the other departments i had been posted to, Micro is not as easy as it seems. There are a lot of stuffs you need to know, memorize and understand. There are different technique and analysis for different samples under different conditions utilizing different apparatus and materials. Overall, this department is very challenging.

To give you a clearer picture, every morning, i have to take out all the samples incubated overnight. I then proceed to observe what changes had happened, note them down and decide further tests required to identify those microscopic bugger. Easy? Not at all.

Furthermore, the MLT in charge or Micro love to throw everything for you to do, but don't be mistaken her for any draconian person. She's very friendly and knows when to throw stuffs at you and when not to. The just yesterday, she complimented me =) According to her, almost every trainee posted to the micro department would get sick during the first week. But instead of getting sick, i am still very much alive and healthy =P But that doesn't mean i can take on any bacteria without gloves or lab coats. Bacteria analyzed include TB, in which if i contracted it, i would be very much at home, quarantined for an entire year.

Then just last week, there was another new trainee who joined the lab. She was from UiTM and study Microbiology. She's ok, quite socializable. But the only problem about her is her constant nagging and complaining about being boring about what she was doing. Well, she would have to adapt to it cause i'd experienced it for the past 1 month and a half =X

Life is filled with potholes now, but soon, it would be cemented in mounds =D
