Ever since the day one of my external harddisk started to act weird, i knew there was a problem with it. Ever since when i first smell a faint scene of burnt, i knew a fish is always fishy.
But i care nothing, i did not take any action, cause i care less to it compared to my exams. Soon after my exam, i instantly forgot about my poor old hdd. Brought it back to Sabah and then, forget about it again.
Today, i bought some cables that would stuck it internally to my PC. But to my surprise, instead of a notice that a USB stuff had been plugged in, i was given a rude warning, where my hdd started "smoking" with a terrible burning odour.
At that very moment, i knew that my hdd is already back to where it belongs, a heap of junkyard heaven. But it was not about that scrap of metal i am worried about. I got a warranty and it ain't a year yet, so i can have a refund. But.......................hundreds of anime, tonnes of movies and countless mp3 songs are still inside that infernal junk T_T
I actually have 2 choices now, either to retrieve the data, or not. And according to my reliable resources and advice from tech savvy friends, i had to give up on the idea of retrieving my data. Seems that retrieving the data would be much more, very much more expensive compared to buying a new one.
" But, but.............*sobz. but there are lots and lots of my precious stuffs inside that thing T_T" i said to myself. Well, guess that i am very unlucky.

What happen when you are inside a room, with lots of unknown stuffs in front of you and you decided to try your luck meddling them? The answer is, NO GOOD =(
The micro lab MLT was on-call duty today. So, first thing in the morning, i opened the incubation chamber and pluck out incubated samples from yesterday. Since there were so many of them, i decided to give it a try to analyse and deduce them myself.
BAD IDEA. End up messing some stuffs up, making some mis-judgement as well as failing to proceed to continue with further testings on the samples. Lucky for me, the micro lab MLT is a very nice person. End up cleaning up all my mess.
So, this serves as a lesson that we all should take note, NEVER EVER try to mess things up with your half-assed "skillz" and knowledge.
But you know what? She is going to have another on-call duty tomorrow, and another duty again on Thursday. Messing up the lab again? I guess so XP

"Damn it" to a particular huge lorry driver. It seems that on a good day on Saturday, a bugger driving a big lorry was happily speeding around Fung Yee Ting pass. Why he wanted to use that road when it was quite narrow, i don't know. All i know is that that bugger sped along the road. Thinking that his lorry is invincible, he continue to speed off EVEN when the phone line was tugged by his lorry. What follows is the phone line fell, the pole supporting the line mangled, and happy residence around that place have no connection to both phones and internet.
And one of those resident happened to be me. It took those TM contractors time from yesterday's afternoon all the way till this afternoon to return the communication services back to normal. Another "kudos" to those contractors to take 24 "short" hours to fix the problem. At the end, a happy lorry "bugger" driver who sped off from the scene of crime, a bunch of happy contractors and technicians who took their sweet time, and another happy me who managed to stay away from internet for an entire 24 hours.
Then today afternoon, while watching the exciting Malaysia Open badmintion super series 2008, the screen suddenly went pitch black. Wondering what happen, i band and slap the TV, but not TV problem (My TV is quite sick nowadays). Changed to other channels, same problem.................Astro problem. Just great. I was eagerly following the final match between Chong Wei and Hyun Il. When the reception is back, just great. The match is over. Till now, the bloody results is not even posted on it's official website as yet.
As for my training, i am happy to say that i am finishing it in a week + 4 days. 1 more week in Micro lab and another 4 days in OPD. Unlike in the other departments i had been posted to, Micro is not as easy as it seems. There are a lot of stuffs you need to know, memorize and understand. There are different technique and analysis for different samples under different conditions utilizing different apparatus and materials. Overall, this department is very challenging.
To give you a clearer picture, every morning, i have to take out all the samples incubated overnight. I then proceed to observe what changes had happened, note them down and decide further tests required to identify those microscopic bugger. Easy? Not at all.
Furthermore, the MLT in charge or Micro love to throw everything for you to do, but don't be mistaken her for any draconian person. She's very friendly and knows when to throw stuffs at you and when not to. The just yesterday, she complimented me =) According to her, almost every trainee posted to the micro department would get sick during the first week. But instead of getting sick, i am still very much alive and healthy =P But that doesn't mean i can take on any bacteria without gloves or lab coats. Bacteria analyzed include TB, in which if i contracted it, i would be very much at home, quarantined for an entire year.
Then just last week, there was another new trainee who joined the lab. She was from UiTM and study Microbiology. She's ok, quite socializable. But the only problem about her is her constant nagging and complaining about being boring about what she was doing. Well, she would have to adapt to it cause i'd experienced it for the past 1 month and a half =X
Life is filled with potholes now, but soon, it would be cemented in mounds =D

Today i was chatting with Diana (MLT in charge of the micro department) and we were discussing about jobs today. As far as i know, she wanted to change her job for two reasons: First, the job in SMC is lowly paid. And secondly, as all other MLT would also agree, the boss factor.
So we were browsing around the net to find any other jobs related to this field and Sabah and all that popped out was neither in this field nor any related field, except for teaching position in colleges.
Then we stumble upon an international job seeking site. Browsing through, we found quite a number of jobs related to the medical and life science field. Then looked at the wage below one of the ads for a biomed job............................33k USD anually................
Lets see, the currency conversion to RM stands around 3.3x currently, so it would be about RM109k per year =_=". It would be about RM9.1K per month. Even with the higher standard of living and the tax, it's still a huge amount.
We were so happy until we looked at the country of employment...................Dubai of UAE T_T. Definitely not a nice place to be around this time. But nonetheless, i still undecided about what i would be doing for a living in the future. Damn this course.

Lately, i had neither been following or watching any animes nor mangas. To my realization, i think that i started to lose interest in these kind of entertainment =O First, it was PS and PC games, then now it's anime and manga. Any cure?
Now, to my workplace. Nothing much at all except for 2 thing. First of all, i made my mind not to work at Clinipath pathology medical lab at all unless under dire situation. With the boss looking for oppertunities to "cut" your wages, further kepoh that revealed how those staffs over at the Klang HQ used extra profits to fund their own end-of-year dinner instead of using it for extra bonus for other workers elsewhere just goes to show it's stripes. Yet, i am still undecided about how my future would go. Too much "route" =_="
And just Friday, a new trainee joined the lab. Apparently she was a microbiology student from UiTM over in Shah Alam. Happy that there is a new student, a new person able to talk to, but still dissapointed cause it's another girl =_=" Only me and my boss are the only males in the lab.

An immunoassay test was done on the blood sample of a man who specifically request for the analysis of a certain disease.................HIV.
And when the result was out, it was P-O-S-I-T-I-V-E. When the result was out, everyone started to gather round for this. At first, i thought they were going to discuss about the reliability of the test or other clinical matters, but instead, they asked question about whether is that guy young, is he handsome, how this guy act and so on.
As for the unlucky staff who took his blood, she started to feel goosebumps, thinking that she might have come into contact with the sample. She finally spill out the beans about how this guy was, describing him as a little nervous while requesting for the test. Figure that this guy had been fooling around and never even bother about protection.
Kepoh abit and finally we knew who this guy was and how old is him and so on. For starter, he just aged 24, pity. Other info would not be spilled out =P
When the report was prepared to be sent to him upstairs, well, you know, girls. Kepoh want to go up to see him personally and primarily, see how he reacts.................................
Again, pity. So remember to wear protection next time if you are fooling outside =)

Right at the start of new year, there are so much big time incidents happening around. The biggest one had to be the assasination of Benazir Bhutto (One heck of a woman. Knew she would be targetted, but yet, still join in the fray). Then comes the fiesty local news about Dr Chua Soi Lek's sex scandal. Good thing he resigned, or else i would be confronted with paper's headlines all consumed with stuffs and more rumours about him. Pity that he had to go since he had been doing very well.
With so many stuffs happening around the world, i come to think.......why isn't there anything happening in my life? My life up till now had been nothing but static repetition of schedules. Of course i am not hoping for anything bad to happen or to face anything dangerous, but at least something challenging or interesting.
Life working in the lab hasn't been any good either. I thought of doing loads of work, offering myself to the draconian senior lab technicians to throw every little work they had to me while they go off somewhere and slack off. By doing so, maybe i could get my mind off some stuffs and matters that had been in my mind.
Bad thought and terrible expectation. Work is still very scarce. Till now, there are not much stuffs to do around. And to make the matter worse, all the staffs there are also hardworking, making me trying to squeeze in and snatch away an analysis job difficult. But well, at least all the staffs there are very nice and helpful, except for the boss....................And do you know that there are 2 floors that are totally empty in SMC at the 6th and 7th floor? Seems like volume of patients is very low, contributing to poor business in the lab.
A scenario happened today though. Received a urine sample. For the first time, i've seen a totally red coloured urine. I've seen reddish brown one, but never this red before. When undergo urinalysis, max haemoglobin. And when looked under the microscope, one might even mistaken it for a blood sample. This urine itself is blood. It's full of red blood cells.
But then, Ann who was analysing it also spotted something else. It looked like epithelial cells.................but this only made the whole thing more funny, since you see, epithelial cells SHOULD only be present in females. Somemore, blood in urine is very very uncommon for males. We can't make it out the identity of that cell. It looked like epithelial cells, but its rounded, and some are even multi-nucleated. So in the report, we started to blurt out sorts of description for it such as 'unknown cells', rounded cells', or even 'unknown rounded cells that some have several nuclease'. Search on the net or on reference lab diagnostic books were fruitless. Finally, it was only described as 'rounded cells'. Not long later when the report was inputted, a call from the responsible doctor came. Poor Ann, having to explain everything to the doctor. There was a point when we did thought of putting "Please come down to the lab to ascertain it yourself" in the repor though.

With all the outgoing messages and greetings that i made, trying to be as poetic as i could (sometimes ending up making something up that i myself could not even understand what the heck does those meant), i just realized something not long ago........
i forgot to think up a resolution for myself for the new year =_="
Obviously i can make up something like "i wanted to improve myself" or "i want to have more good luck" or even "i want to own a benz by this year" like that, but i preferred something that is more practical and more achievable within my abilities.
Without further delaying this post, i shall announce my be-lated new year resolutions.......

can't really think of something at an instance yet =P Maybe hoping i could get a new TV so i could finish all my PS games?
As for my new year celebration, nothing..............nil, niche. Work entire day bla bla bla. Dinner at, as usual for the past 2-3 year, at Cherry Lounge with my family and aunt and waited there till midnight, yeah yeah yeah, new year, look at the time, jom pulang, vroom vroom vroom, back home. I am starting to see a pattern here.
Why spent my precious new year eve time like this? For a starter, i am very tired after work. For no reason, i was darn tired that day eventhough work was minimal. Then, the only bunch of guys who called me out was, as usual, trip to the beach again. I never liked to go there cause of
1) Terrible traffic jam
2) Overcrowded
3) People often got too rowdy and sometimes could lead to some unwanted problems
4) The weather forecasts predicted terrible weather.
5) I hate mosquitoes
So i rejected their offer, and to my relief, it was the right choice. It was raining for almost the entire night.
But still, i still felt a bit regret not going there, cause i boring myself out anyway.
