Decisions !!!

By blueskyz
Right now, i am in a dilemma as to how the pathway of my life would be.

Academically, i won't stop at a degree only. To survive in this world nowadays with only a degree is not enough. I am neither the smart-ass kind of guy, nor am i those ruthless type. I've known friends who are working their butts off almost the entire week just to scrape a meagre wage of less than RM2k, and that is even with a degree.

I am pondering, should i apply for the DUKE-NUS physician-scientist course, or should i stick to my current plans of getting a Masters?

The catch is if i succeed in applying, i won't have much monetary problems as all of the students would be subsidized by certain quarters of the Singapore government. It's near to M'sia, and S'pore is still considered a cheap place to study. And after graduation, the catch is, i would never searching jobs high and low. The Singapore General Hospital would 100% certain employ me to pay off my debt to the S'pore government, paying my wage, and most of all, allow a solid platform for me to start my working life.

However, if say i was to enrol after ending only with a single degree, i would still have to study for a full 4 years for a MD diploma. And before that, i would have to sit for the MCAT (Medical College Assessment Test), as DUKE is a US college. RM700++ for a single test and encompase mostly on A-level standard stuffs.

The thing is, there is PHYSICS T_T. Biology, no problem. Chemistry, no worries. PHYSICS =O It's been such a long time since i last touched Physics. I never even complete the entire course as i bailed out after a year =_="

Other universities like IMU or even my own uni's medical school would accept me, providing my grades are good enough and might provide me with credit transfer, easing my life a bit during the first year. But finance restrain would come into the picture.

How and what am i to do.......................................should i go for it, or just forget it? I have at most a month to think about it. Oh my head hurts @_@

As for my current semester, everything is still running quite smoothly. My internal marks are good, my test results are good, and for the first time, i scored a full mark for one of my assignments =) (frankly speaking, this lecturer is actually very nice and lenient =P).

Lecturers on the other hand, i have issues with some. My MIC2011 lecturer, i just never liked her. How much is she being hated? Almost every senior never liked her, and no one wanted to join her research team, except for a few interested in her research. As for my SCI2010, one of my 'used-to-be' favourite lecturer seems to have personal problems, but this leads to 2 cancelled workshops and still taking MC even today =_=". One other lecturer acts and speaks like a clown, while the other talks and acts like a mime <_<" This subject is easy, but the lecturers are dragging us down.

And in the recent PC fair, i finally got my very fist iPod =D. I have 2 mp3 players, but as said in my CNY post, one is in a pretty poor shape (and china's barang tiruan). Another one...............i gonna blame myself for losing it's usb cable. I search high and low for it ever since i got back to KL, only to get the answer "This USB cable verryyyy special one wohhh, cannot find anywhere like worrrrr, have to call its service centre wooooohhh".

And call i did, and the conversations is more or less like:

E-Eric, S-Service centre

E- Good morning. I am calling here as a customer that purchased your company's XX-XX model
mp3. I was wondering whether do you sell it's USB cable separately?
S- Yes, we got.
E- How much would that cost?
S- RM150.
E- !?!?!?!?!?? Is it really that expensive for only 1 USB cable?
S- Yes. It's a special cable
E- So special that it is not even allowed on the shelves in PC stores even in Low Yat?
S- Yes.
E- Can you give me some discount? I am actually a uni student and my pocket is kind of thin.
S- Sorry lar, this price lowest already lo, cannot poting anymore.
E- Really cannot potong? Even just RM5?
S- Really cannot leh. It's either you buy from us or just forget it.
E- If like that............can i pick it up in a week time at the PJ centre?
S- Ok-lah.
E- Thank you
S- *kep phone*

And i never did went there to get it at all. I bought that mp3 for RM480, and they are now charging RM150 for one single cable? Its like 30% of it's total price. I wonder what so special about that cable. It is labeled that i transfer files fast, but i never rasa it to be fast before <_<" And yes, that customer service guy ( i am sure it was a guy) was quite rude.
